Bimmer Tracker follows a BMW order from the factory line to the dealer. You give it your VIN or 7-digit production number; it shows you the build BMW has on file, the stage the car is at, and it sends you a notification when that changes. Tracking is a one-time $4.99 unlock; the fleet statistics are free.
It’s the 7-digit number on your order paperwork, usually labelled production number, Produktionsnummer or Prod. No. Your client advisor has it the moment the order is placed with the factory, and it is the fastest thing to ask them for — it exists well before a VIN does. If you already have a VIN, the full 17-character VIN works just as well; you only need one of the two.
Because BMW hasn’t moved it. We check your car regularly and show you exactly what BMW’s tracking service says — we don’t interpolate, and we don’t invent motion to make the screen feel alive.
BMW only publishes an update at real milestones, and the gaps between them are genuinely long: a car can sit at “awaiting carrier” for a week, and for a car built overseas the ocean crossing is weeks of nothing at all. A quiet timeline almost always means a car in transit, not a broken app. If a stage is still blank long after you’d expect it, that is BMW not publishing a date for it, and the app says “date unknown” rather than guessing.
We’ve also written up every status code BMW publishes — what each one means, and how long cars actually spend there, measured on the fleet we track.
Sign in to the new phone with the same Apple Account or Google account you bought the unlock with, install Bimmer Tracker, and the unlock is restored — tap Restore Purchases on the unlock screen if it doesn’t appear on its own. The unlock is a one-time, non-consumable purchase, so it comes back at no charge, on as many of your devices as you like.
Your tracked car is a separate matter: it’s tied to the old phone’s anonymous device id, not to your store account, so add the car again with your production number on the new phone. It takes one paste, and it doesn’t cost anything.
Email info@bimmertracker.com — we read everything. It helps if you include your production number and the app version from the About screen, but write to us either way.
