What it means

The car is parked in a compound at the export port, waiting to be loaded onto its vessel. Sailings for car carriers run on a schedule measured in days, so a short wait here is built into the system.

Once it loads, the status flips to in transit and the longest quiet stretch of the whole journey begins.

Where these numbers come from. Stage times are measured on the iX3 fleet this site tracks daily — real observed transitions, measured since 2026-08-17, not estimates. The status codes themselves are BMW-wide: every US order walks the same pipeline, so the meanings hold for any model; exact durations vary by plant and route. BMW publishes only the current status — codes occasionally step backwards when a car is re-sequenced, and that usually sorts itself out in a day or two. Not affiliated with BMW.
